After the Sex Pistols imploded in early ’78, John Lydon wasted absolutely no time in building a new group, putting out this debut album at the end of that year.
Freed of the more ‘commercial’ tendencies of the Pistols and Malcolm McLaren, PiL looked to detonate the already extensive clichés of the punk scene, folding in dub, reggae, experimental sounds and an even more acerbic feel than the Pistols.
